Hundreds of villages and large tracts of farmlands in Odisha were flooded on Thursday following heavy rain in the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi and Baitarani rivers. Around 1.2 lakh people have been affected in 762 villages of 90 blocks across 15 districts, reports Minati Singha. Sources said two people were washed away in floodwaters in Jajpur district, taking the total death toll due to flood to three in the state in the past two days.
