NEW DELHI/LUCKNOW: CM Yogi Adityanath Wednesday invited Japanese companies to make UP their “second home” as the state received a major investment boost with the virtual groundbreaking of two Japan-backed projects worth Rs 3,191 crore in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority region.Addressing the inaugural session of UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi, Yogi pitched the state as a long-term industrial partner for Japan, calling for cooperation not only in manufacturing but also in technology, research and development, skill development and global supply chains. “We want them to consider UP their second industrial home,” the CM said.

The event was attended by over 200 Japanese investors and business leaders, led by Kotaro Nagasaki, governor of Yamanashi prefecture.The projects are the outcome of investment outreach, with the CM visiting Japan in Feb and inviting companies there to invest in UP.Union ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted opportunities for Japanese investment in agriculture, electronics, semiconductors, railways, defence and emerging technologies. Nagasaki said green hydrogen, tourism and governance have emerged as areas of future cooperation.The meet will continue till Aug 23, with the delegation visiting Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi and Sarnath to explore cultural, tourism and business opportunities across the state.
