Police said that their team busted LeT logistics module

JAMMU: Three over ground workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), arrested recently in Rajouri district, had been active for several years and facilitated the movement of multiple terror groups across Rajouri-Reasi in Jammu division through the Pir Panjal region up to Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said Friday.All three OGWs are residents of Kot Charwal in Rajouri and were part of a logistic support module linked to the Pakistan-based terror outfit, police said. They are also suspected to have provided ground support to terrorists linked with multiple high-profile attacks in Rajouri district in the recent past.

The terror module was busted on Sept 14 with the arrest of Zakir Hussain, Mohammed Azam and Mohammed Mushtaq. “Their alleged role in assisting, harbouring and facilitating the movement of terrorists who were subsequently killed in an encounter at Chassana in Reasi district in Sept 2023 has also emerged,” a police spokesperson said.Based on the trio’s disclosure, an IED was recovered from a forest adjoining their village immediately after their arrest. A pistol, along with a magazine and ammunition, besides two Chinese grenades, was also recovered on Sept 17. “The arms and explosives had been handed over to the accused for safe custody and possible use in future attacks,” the spokesman said.Further investigation was on “to expose the complete network, identify additional associates and ascertain the full extent of the accused persons’ involvement”, he added.
