Centre notifies grievance redressal rules under VB-G RAM G Act, sets 15-day resolution deadline
The VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, establishes a rural employment and livelihood guarantee framework, providing eligible rural households with a statutory right to wage employment.

NEW DELHI: The Centre has notified grievance redressal rules under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, laying down a multi-tier mechanism to address complaints related to the implementation of the rural employment scheme.Under the new rules, grievances will have to be resolved within 15 days of receipt, while the enquiry into each complaint must be completed within seven working days. The framework provides for grievance redressal officers at the Gram Panchayat, block and district levels, with the District Programme Coordinator overseeing the process at the district level. The rules allow people to submit complaints in person, through speed post, designated digital platforms, telephone helplines or other channels specified by state governments. Complaints received physically at the panchayat, block or district level must be registered on the designated digital platform on the day of receipt or, if that is not feasible, by the next working day.Once registered, complainants will receive an acknowledgement with a registration number, date of receipt and details of the receiving authority. The rules also state that “no grievance can be refused registration” on the grounds of its format, language, mode of submission or procedural deficiencies.

The designated officer will examine each complaint and can seek relevant records, documents and information from the authorities concerned. Complainants may also be given an opportunity to present their case, either in person or electronically, before the grievance is disposed of.The findings and action taken will be recorded on the designated digital platform and communicated to the complainant. Complaints that remain unresolved within the 15-day deadline will be escalated to the next higher level under the state grievance redressal mechanism and monitored until disposal. The rules also provide for appeals against orders passed under the grievance redressal mechanism, in accordance with Schedule I of the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.
