Chandigarh: Punjab and Haryana HC has made it clear that the model code of conduct issued by the Election Commission is not a bar for governments in complying with orders passed by the HC. The HC clarified this as a few appointments, to be made in compliance with court orders, had been halted by administrative heads of departments of states and Chandigarh UT, citing model code of conduct.
“Therefore, it has become necessary to clarify that no code of conduct issued by the EC can be permitted to stand in the way of execution of the orders of the HC,” it ruled.
