Phagwara roads in poor shape

Published on

Phagwara, July 30

Though politicians and officials make tall claims of providing basic facilities to the people, residents of Phagwara have been left to fend for themselves when it comes to upkeep of the roads.

The Phagwara-Banga road, Railway Road, Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road and Phagwara-Hadiabad Road have not been recarpeted for the past two years.

Ramesh Dhir of Nakodar said despite repeated requests, nothing happened on the ground.

Commuters added that it takes several hours to reach their destinations on the pothole-riddled roads.

Though the Centre and the state governments had announced to provide better infrastructure to the people, roads from Phagwara-Banga and Phagwara-Hoshiarpur were in poor shape, rued residents.

Phagwara Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anupam Kaler said she had repeatedly written to the authorities concerned to repair these roads, but to no avail. She added that she had also written to the NHAI as well in this regard.
