LUCKNOW: The spat between INDIA bloc partners Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress over next month’s MP assembly elections appears to have taken a new turn as workers of Akhilesh Yadav‘s party placed a large hoarding outside their headquarters in Lucknow on Monday, displaying him as the “future PM” of India.

The hoarding surfaced a day after SP chief Akhileshtweeted his “PDA” plank – short for “Pichada (backwards), Dalits, and Alpasankhyaks (minorities)” – for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with the goal to “defeat NDA”.In this context, he omitted mentioning INDIA.
Political observers saw Akhilesh’s tweet, followed by the hoarding, as a response to the recent tension between SP and Congress. The discord emerged from the failed discussions on forming an alliance for the MP elections scheduled for November 17. It intensified when former MP CM Kamal Nath dismissed a question about Akhilesh, saying: “Let’s not discuss Akhilesh-Wakhilesh.”
SP worker Faqrul Hasan, who’s responsible for the hoarding, said: “Party workers always wanted to see SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav as the PM. Netaji is no longer with us. So, we now want the SP chief to take on the role and become the PM.”
According to him, SP workers celebrate Akhilesh’s birthday multiple times to express their admiration and respect for their leader, though it falls on July 1.
