Around 40 SpiceJet Q400 pilots refuse to fly until salary dues are cleared: Report
SpiceJet faces a new turbulence as 40 Q400 aircraft pilots refuse to fly due to pending salary

Around 40 pilots operating SpiceJet’s Q400 aircraft have reportedly refused to fly until the airline clears their pending salary dues, sources said on Monday. The move has received support from the Airline Pilots’ Association of India (ALPA India), which has expressed solidarity with the pilots. In a letter dated October 9 addressed to its members and the civil aviation fraternity, ALPA India said it would extend moral support, along with logistical, professional and consultative assistance, to help the pilots secure a fair resolution.

The association said it had been informed that a group of Q400 pilots had taken a stand to defend their legitimate rights, professional dignity and aviation safety standards.“These pilots have reportedly been operating under considerable stress and uncertainty arising from persistent financial and operational challenges,” the letter said.It also flagged reports of unpaid vendors withholding essential aircraft-related services, alongside salary delays and outstanding employee benefits, which it said had made working conditions increasingly difficult. The development comes as the budget carrier continues to face financial and operational challenges, with aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) closely monitoring the airline.According to data available on fleet-tracking website Planespotters.net, quoted by PTI, SpiceJet has 10 aircraft in its operational fleet, including two Q400s, while 37 aircraft remain parked.
