NEW DELHI: A cloudburst on Sunday morning caused multiple landslides and flooding in Itanagar. Despite the heavy rainfall experienced in Arunachal Pradesh over the past few weeks, conditions had improved in the last two days, and no rain was predicted for Sunday.
The cloudburst occurred around 10:30 am, resulting in landslides in various locations throughout Itanagar and its surrounding areas.Additionally, several sections of NH-415, a crucial route for the residents of the state capital, experienced flood-like conditions, as reported by a Disaster Management Department official.
Numerous vehicles were left stranded on the highway due to the adverse conditions.
In light of the heavy rains, the district administration advised people to avoid rivers and areas prone to landslides, urging them to relocate to safer locations.
To provide assistance, the district administration has established seven designated relief camps.
