Bikram Majithia appears before Special Investigation Team in Patiala in drugs case

Patiala, January 16

SAD leader Bikram Majithia appeared before the SIT on Tuesday to explain his position in the drugs case registered against him.

The fourth Special Investigation Team formed to probe charges of drugs smuggling against Majithia had summoned the leader at the Police Lines here.

The Patiala Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar-led new SIT, which was formed on January 1, had asked Majithia to appear for further questioning.

Bhullar heads the three-member SIT with Patiala SSP Varun Sharma and Dhuri SP Yogesh Sharma as its members.

The need to reconstitute the SIT arose following the retirement of Patiala ADGP MS Chhina on December 30. Earlier, the SIT had summoned Majithia on December 18.

Majithia was booked in December 2021 on the basis of a 2018 report submitted by anti-drugs STF head Harpreet Singh Sidhu.
