Congress calls Rahul Gandhi's 'Sitarama' misspelling in Tata post 'typo marketing', mocks BJP

NEW DELHI: Congress on Thursday took a dig at BJP supporters for flagging the misspelling of Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman‘s name in a social media post by Rahul Gandhi, saying the deliberate typo was a strategy to draw attention. In a post on X, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate thanked BJP supporters for amplifying Rahul Gandhi’s post in which he accused the government of “criminally destroying” the Tata Group.“BJP buffoons fall prey so easily. In communication, deliberate misspelling is a strategy to gain attention. It’s called Typo Marketing,” the Congress leader said.“Thank you for amplifying Rahul ji’s tweet on Tata by desperately pointing out Sitaraman misspelt. Hahhahaha!” she added.Earlier on Wednesday, Rahul and Sitharaman sparred on X after the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha accused the government of “criminally destroying” the Tata Group amid an ongoing leadership dispute at the conglomerate. Rahul alleged that no business leader dared to speak out against the alleged interference. In a post on X, the Congress leader said, “Tata is being criminally destroyed, and no business leader dares say a word. How long will you stay silent? Until they own you?” He added that Indian businesses were not Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and home minister Amit Shah’s “plaything” and accused business leaders of lacking the courage to speak out.Sitharaman hit back at Rahul, accusing him of trying to incite business leaders to join him in spreading “distrust and toxicity”. She urged him to refrain from politicising every issue and said casually labelling commercial and legal matters as criminal was unacceptable.Defending the government’s policies, Sitharaman said the Modi government valued Indian industry as a source of jobs and economic growth. She also accused the Congress of having stifled Indian entrepreneurs for decades through the “Licence-Quota Raj” and said the government’s policies were designed to support enterprise, industry and investment.

Responding with another X post, Rahul wrote, “Dear Mrs. Sitarama (sic), 1. Which ‘legal and commercial matter’ required Tata Trusts and Tata Sons to be hosted at Amit Shah’s residence? 2. When is crony number 1 going to appear in the game and which pieces of Tata is he going to get?”“Finally, all India’s businesses except 3-4 of your cronies already hate all of you and don’t need any incitement,” he added. The Congress leader’s remarks come against the backdrop of a dispute over Tata Sons’ leadership. Earlier this week, Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata challenged the September 17 board resolution of Tata Sons to reappoint N Chandrasekaran as chairman of the holding company of the country’s largest conglomerate.
