Rising Bharat Summit 2025 Updates: Calling delay of projects “enemy” of development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his government has vowed to defeat this enemy while hitting out at previous governments.
Speaking at Rising Bharat Summit 2025, PM Modi highlighted delay in crucial projects including new Parliament building, Assam’s Bogibeel Bridge, Navi Mumbai airport, and Kollam bypass road in Kerala.

“I recently inaugurated Pamban Bridge in Rameshwaram… People kept demanding for new bridge. The work started in our government. A country cannot run by delaying projects. A country runs on performance and work done in quick speed. Delay is the enemy of development. We have taken vowed to defeat this enemy,” he said.
“The foundation stone for Assam’s Bogibeel Bridge was laid by former Prime Minister Devegowda ji in 1997, and the work was initiated under Vajpayee’s government. However, when the Congress Party came to power, the project was halted. The people of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam faced difficulties, but the government at that time showed little concern. In 2014, when we were allowed to serve, the project was restarted. Remarkably, we completed the bridge in just four years, by 2018,” he added.
