Foreign student dies in accident, three injured

Fatehgarh Sahib, January 20

A 22-year-old student of Zimbabwean origin was killed and three students were injured in an accident when a car collided with a truck parked on GT Road at Nabipur village near Sirhind town.

The deceased has been identified as Kelton Tinotoda Mwamuka while the injured include Chimwabe Ruwimwo, Farooun Mayugewambet and Newton Mashingranidezi.

Sanjeev Kumar, in-charge of Nabipur police post, said that one Jogeja Harare said that he and his cousin Kelton Tinotoda are studying for B.Com at Gulzar Group of Colleges near Khanna.

His cousin Kelton had gone to Delhi at 12.30 pm to pick up his friends from Zimbabwe in a cab. While coming from the airport to the college, the driver of his cab rammed it into the back of a truck at Nabipur petrol pump, killing Kelton and injuring his friends.

The complainant said that the accident was due to the fault of cab driver Karmajit Singh, who was driving at high speed. After the accident, the driver left the car and escaped from the spot.

The police have taken the car into custody and registered a case against the cab driver.
