NEW DELHI: Hailing the youth’s participation in campaigns against drug use, PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said India had created a unique record of destroying 10 lakh kg of drugs worth more than Rs 12,000 crore. The PM reminded the country that to save future generations, “we have to keep them away from drugs” and to fight the problem “it is necessary that we all move in unison”.

In his ‘Mann Ki Baat‘ on Sunday, the PM said, “two weeks ago, India has taken a huge action against drugs“. “After seizing about 1.5 lakh kg consignment of drugs, it has been destroyed. India has also created a unique record of destroying 10 lakh kg of drugs. The cost of these drugs was more than Rs 12,000 crore.”
“I would like to appreciate all those who are contributing in this noble campaign of de-addiction. Drug addiction becomes a big problem not only for the family, but for the whole society,” he said. Modi said that to counter the lure of drugs, many innovative efforts are being made in places like J&K.
