The Karnataka Medical Education Department issued a doctor from Bengaluru a show-cause notice for allegedly assaulting her elderly in-laws and harassing them along with her children for the past 10 years.
A viral video of a doctor identified as Priyadarshini, an emergency medical officer at the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) of Victoria Hospital, allegedly harassing her in-laws sparked widespread outrage.

Even after filing for divorce, Priyadarshini went to her in-law’s house and physically attacked them. A case has been registered against her in connection with the incident.

Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, Mohammad Mohsin, expressed disappointment and embarrassment over the viral videos on social media, stating that such behaviour brought embarrassment to the department.
He directed the Director of Medical Education Dr. Sujatha Rathod to issue a show-cause notice to the doctor.
Mohammad Mohsin directed Dr Priyadarshini to provide a written explanation addressing the allegations, cautioning that failure to respond would prompt further disciplinary action.
Mohammad Mohsin had earlier alerted the Minister for Medical Education, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, about the disturbing trend of elderly parents being abandoned in hospitals, typically after their families had taken control of their assets. Mohsin emphasised the need for legal action to address these cases, highlighting the vulnerability of elderly individuals who are often left without support or care.
