NHAI warning prompts IGI T3 parking operator to lift FASTag curbs

NEW DELHI: The parking operator at Terminal 3 (T3) of Delhi airport has removed FASTag-based entry restrictions, bringing much-needed relief to passengers and visitors. The move came a day after Indian Highways Management Company Ltd (IHMCL), under NHAI, warned the acquiring bank associated with the parking facility of action after it emerged that the operator was using FASTag to regulate vehicle entry rather than solely for collecting parking fees.NHAI had also temporarily suspended FASTag-based parking payments, citing the violation. In a post on X, NHAI said, “NHAI would like to inform you that the matter was taken up with the relevant stakeholders to address the inconvenience faced by commuters. Following the intervention of the concerned authorities, restrictions on vehicles with FASTag at Terminal 3 (T3) of Delhi airport have been removed.”With this, the earlier system has been restored. The parking operator had recently started diverting vehicles without FASTag to the multi-level parking facility, causing inconvenience to users. Vehicles entering this facility often get stuck in queues, exceeding the free parking period and forcing motorists to pay parking fees.
