No more a free circus, but a tamasha worth crores

The protest launched by Congress and left-wing student unions in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has posed several serious questions before the country’s political culture and democratic system. Congress and left-wing organizations have demanded the immediate removal of Gyanesh Kumar from the post of Chief Election Commissioner.A petition regarding this had also been filed in the Supreme Court. This petition demanded the removal of Gyanesh Kumar from his post. Even after the Supreme Court dismissed this petition, Congress’ Yuvraj Rahul Gandhi, along with his party’s MPs, has been wreaking havoc on the streets of Delhi every single day. There is a popular saying in Maharashtra, “Bin Paishacha Tamasha”, which means a tamasha born out of sheer foolishness that costs not even a penny. This surely entertains the onlookers. But the tamasha of the protest staged by the Congress and left-wing organizations is not free of cost; instead, it is costing crores of rupees every day. Paid protesters are being brought in. Unmasking the mastermind behind this multi-crore drama deserves a separate article. There is a competition going on between Rahul Gandhi and left-wing student unions to prove who is better in expressing fierce opposition to the Modi government by taking to the streets. When the footage of a young woman representing left-wing organizations climbing over a barricade and pushing women police officers went viral on social media, Yuvraj Gandhi felt a sudden urge to show just how brave he was. He began to fear that his own TRP might drop when this young woman was systematically brought into the limelight by left-wing organizations. It was out of this fear that he staged a protest march to the Chief Election Commissioner’s office and satisfied his urge by climbing over police barricades. No country in the world has ever seen an opposition leader so childish, shallow and terrified for his very existence. Rahul Gandhi has sworn to tarnish the reputation of the office of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He takes pride in bringing each and every Lok Sabha session to a standstill by creating a ruckus. Even though the Delhi Police have denied permission for the protest, Rahul Gandhi has become an expert at things like pushing down the police barricades and manhandling police officers. He is making a desperate attempt to prove himself as the Leader of the Opposition by acting like a Bollywood hero. He has destroyed his own reputation due to this frenzied behaviour.Rahul Gandhi does not have the intellectual capacity to understand that such cheap aggression does not help in politics. He should learn how to oppose a government from his grandmother Mrs. Indira Gandhi’s life. The Janata Party government had appointed the Shah Commission to inquire into the atrocities committed during the Emergency. The Shah Commission found Indira Gandhi guilty. Subsequently, the police went to her home to arrest her. Mrs. Indira Gandhi surrendered to the police without any ruckus. But before that, she had called all the journalists and photographers in Delhi to her home. She calmly got herself arrested in front of them. She systematically gained the sympathy of voters through this. Now, that is what you call a shrewd politician. These days, Rahul Gandhi keeps on picking fights with the police over one thing or the other. His tactics, like marching towards the Prime Minister’s residence or attempting to enter the Election Commission’s office, show that he does not have even a basic understanding of politics. Even the common man has started to realise that Rahul Gandhi was just trying to get some publicity by trying to enter the Election Commission’s office without any prior appointment. Rahul Gandhi has decided to defy all parliamentary and government rules, conventions and laws. From a security perspective, security rules are extremely strict at places in Delhi such as Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Prime Minister’s residence etc. Rahul Gandhi must certainly be aware of the laws and rules, as he has been an MP for more than 22 years. Still, he is trying to break the law again and again. He is still not mature enough to understand that such gimmicks give temporary publicity, but do not make his leadership popular. In fact, it seems that he does not even want to develop such maturity. Not a single Congress leader currently has the courage to tell Rahul Gandhi, who has been criticizing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), that the Congress won in Kerala after this exercise was carried out. Rahul Gandhi, who accuses the EVMs of being manipulated, deliberately ignores the fact that he himself won an election by a margin of more than six lakh votes which was conducted using these very EVMs. He also conveniently forgets that the BJP won a majority when election was conducted through EVMs in 2014, when his own party was in power.

Yuvraj is even failing to understand that such behaviour is causing him to lose his standing among the people. He is so obsessed with publicity that he has even forgotten that he is fighting against Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He thinks that he is in competition with the youth who are gaining publicity by protesting in Delhi. He is not even bothered that he is adding to the difficulties faced by ordinary people in the Delhi region by staging protests every now and then and blocking roads. These protests can, at most, make him a reel star for a few days. He won’t get anything beyond that. Of course, he does not have the intellectual capacity to understand this. Therefore, there is no doubt that he will be more provocative and dramatic in the coming days.
