With the successful test landing of the flight at Noida’s Jewar Airport, the commercial flight operations are expected to begin in April 2025.

An IndiGo test flight from Delhi’s IGI Airport landed at Jewar International Airport in Noida for technical assessment on Monday, before the commercial flight operations begin in April next year.
All security-related trials at the airport were completed. With today’s first flight landing, the Jewar Airport will be ready for commercial services, officials said.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation gave a nod for the aircraft landing at Jewar Airport after completing all security checks.
The landing of the flight took place between 1 pm and 2 pm today.

How Did Test Flight Take Place?
The test flight took off from the IGI Airport and reached Jewar Airport within minutes. The aircraft remained airborne for 1.5 to 2 hours before finally landing at the airport, the officials said.
“Before landing at Jewar Airport, close coordination between the pilot and the ATC will be closely monitored. After all the safety checks, the plane will land on the runway,” they said earlier, adding that if the trial succeeds today, the Jewar Airport will be given a nod for the beginning of commercial flight operations starting April 2025.
As per the officials, today’s flight did not have any passengers and only the crew members were be onboard.
“The runway at Jewar Airport has been specially designed with the collaboration of Zurich Airport Authority of Switzerland,” the officials said.
The runway at Jewar Airport is approximately 3.9 kilometers long.
