'Your tacit approval?' BJP chief Nitin Nabin questions Rahul Gandhi over Jharkhand Congress leader's 'Nepal-Bangladesh' remark

NEW DELHI: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Friday questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his “silence” on Jharkhand health minister Irfan Ansari’s “Nepal-Bangladesh” remark.Nabin asked whether Rahul Gandhi’s silence amounted to “tacit approval” of the comments made by Ansari, a Congress leader. Also Read | ‘India may face situation worse than Bangladesh, Nepal’: Cong minister’s remark sparks row“Rahul Gandhi ji, a minister from your party in Jharkhand is openly declaring that the Congress is ready to create instability in the country at your behest and plunge India into the fire of anarchy. What does your silence on this grave statement signify, after all? Is it your tacit approval?” the BJP chief asked in Hindi in a post on X.Nabin also questioned whether Rahul Gandhi was behind what he described as a “conspiracy to destabilise the country”, asking whether the Lok Sabha leader of the opposition held the “remote control” of the “plot.”“Is the script to spread instability and anarchy in the country being written at your own behest? Is the remote control of this entire conspiracy in your hands? Why are those toying with the country’s stability receiving your patronage? Rahul Gandhi ji, the nation demands answers from you. Your silence is deepening these serious questions,” he added.Nabin’s remarks came a day after Ansari said that discontent with the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre was growing among youths, farmers and minorities. He warned that the situation could “worsen” if PM Modi failed to address their concerns. The Jamtara MLA claimed that 40 lakh youths and students were protesting across the country, adding that Rahul Gandhi was “restraining” them from escalating their agitation.

“From youths and farmers to minorities, everyone is troubled by the regime at the Centre. If the Prime Minister does not become alert, the country’s situation will turn worse than that of Bangladesh and Nepal. They are waiting for just one command. They will not go beyond what Rahul Gandhi says. Rahul Gandhi is holding these young people back,” Ansari said. The Congress leader’s reference to Bangladesh and Nepal was in the context of youth- and student-led protests that led toppled governments in two of India’s neighbouring countries. Since then, several opposition leaders have repeatedly invoked the examples of Bangladesh and Nepal when targeting the Modi government. The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre faced student protests in July over the NEET-UG paper leak, with the demonstrations forcing then Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign.
